Charles Breakspear back on the red card road at Port Vale, and apparently took 90 seconds to get the red card out, presumably following advice. Difficult decision to make based on brief TV highlights but also difficult to see why it took so long to get the red card out.
Firstly, I don't like the way Breakspear is labelled on here as being a "card shark" - a lot of his previous reds were correct.

This one is hard. Late Yes. High Yes. Malice Not Sure. I am prepared to give CB & his assistant the benefit of the doubt.

Intent/malice are completely irrelevant in terms of the LOTG.

I would like to think that where any doubt exists in a referee's mind,he would look more favourably on someone who has clearly done something accidentally than someone who is deliberately malicious.

So would I but in terms of the LOTG they are irrelevant. World of difference imo between a late tackle due to mistiming/misjudging distance etc than there is someone setting out to deliberately hurt an opponent or just launching themself in with no care if the opponent ends up injured or not.
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!
