I can't tick the 'agree' box on this one, Charlieboy, but I will tick the 'like' box for your informed views on Charles.

Me too AT.  I think there really is the potential for him to be a very good referee and yet something seems to hold him back because despite his many strengths he hasn't been given a SG2 berth yet. I have met him; he is affable and humorous, whether that extends onto the pitch I couldn't say. I  feel that there is a lack of 'measure' to his performances, the jigsaw pieces are all there but as yet they don't seem to fit together to reveal the full picture.

That he is and he gives the best hugs ever! One of the downsides when AFCB got promoted to the PL - Missy bmb lost out on a lot of hugs! Priorities you know!! I've never actually seen him referee, he used to be fairly regular at Dean Court as an AR but AFCB were in the PL by the time he was promoted so I have never seen him referee just as an AR & he was always decent when he visited us.

The Surrey card shark back in business at Plymouth after an apparent lean spell. 2nd yellow looked justified although the tackle was in midfield.

Kettle has been extremely lean the last few weeks.... he must be ready for a card fest and a disaster game soon!

No the word I'd use to describe Kettle. A bit short on cards maybe, but "lean"  ????

Homonyms should be avoided where one of the potential meanings is inappropriate !  ;)

I think the weather tomorrow may result in an increase in the backlog of fixtures. Rain is the problem falling on already saturated ground.  :'(

He sent-off Jason Pearce at Charlton v Rochdale last Tuesday.

Please no more talk of Kettle being due some cards or a stinker of a game. He's doing Portsmouth v AFC Wimbledon tonight and we could do without any undue intervention from the official.

And that was his first red card in league football this season...!

On the subject of 'card sharks' I think I know why Mr Purkiss is high on the list.

Mr Purkiss decided to manage the game at Peterborough last night by letting a number of mandatory cautions go early on.

This led to players of both sides taking the law into their own hands with some nasty tackles as there appeared no sanction.

In fact their where more cautions for dissent in the first half as players and management became very frustrated.

Game management is all well and good, but allowing players to kick lumps out of each other before deciding to caution isnt .

Second half he resorted to cautions but this was way too late and very inconsistent with what had happened before

How Charlton's Pratley wasn't cautioned until the 90th minute I'll never know and Posh's Hamilton was very lucky.
