Declan Ford is assistant at Rocdale on Saturday, and referee at Doncaster on Tuesday ?

Didn't know he had been promoted.

Declan Bourne is referee at Doncaster, not Declan Ford

I notice that Chris Husband is AR on back to back Salford games is this allowed/common?

In Dave Allison's day it never happened but seems to be a semi common occurrence these days. It shouldn't happen, imo. What if there is a really controversial issue on the first game, it could be very awkward in the 2nd one. I can understand if there's a last minute replacement due to injury/illness but it smacks of lazy appointing otherwise.
I agree bmb it shouldn't happen, there is more than enough AR's to make sure this didn't happen. Am I right in saying that in the prem there has to be a two week gap before refereeing the same team again?

As far as I'm aware it's supposed to be the same across all 4 professional divisions!

Interesting indirect free-kick incident at the end of the game at Sutton yesterday, where the keeper appears to touch the ball into the net. I bet Dan Robathan thought he was in for a quiet day as fourth official...

2 things of note;

Firstly, dont be lazy, keep arm up until you are convinced someone has touched the ball or it goes out of play

Secondly, the reaction of the nearest attacker was immediate, he knew the GK had touched it.

Pretty poor from a SG2 official and his team.

Really sloppy / lazy.  The arm was down almost before the ball was struck.  Had he kept it raised he could have simply pointed to it with the other hand to explain why no goal was being awarded.

Did the goal-keeper touch it?  I don't know and neither does the referee because he made little or no effort to get closer to the incident.

I know that some of the laws of the game are a bit obscure and little known but part of the basic role of a referee is to know them and to know what to do when - once in a blue moon - such incidences occur.

How can we legitimately complain when players, managers, pundits, etc. do not know the laws ..........?

I was at the sutton vs barrow game in person as i'm a photographer, got as close to incident and subsequent discussions as i possibly could. It was a big call from Dan Robathan but Andy Davies honestly didn't seem to have a clue what to do. It was an embarrassing state of affairs. Barrow was adamant that there was a touch and I think others are right that refs should have an understanding of all the rules.

Lucky they sent an SG2 referee who has nothing much else to do in his working life than make sure he is fully conversant with every nuance of the Laws and best practice when refereeing !!!

How this man got elevated to that level has been a complete mystery to me for many years.

I could be wrong, but one of the assistants at Stevenage v Rochdale appears to be Matthew Wilkes.

A clean sheet for Mather!!

Oh by the way, his match was abandoned in the first half due to waterlogged pitch…

First viewing of Tom Kirk in action, albeit on IFollow rather than in person. He seemed rather whistle-happy at the start and his first YC for Rovers' Turnbull seemed very harsh when the free-kick and foul arguably should have gone the other way. A couple of YCs later in the first half could on another day have been reds, while later on he didn't blow for a couple of fouls which were far worse than things he'd been blowing up for earlier on in the game. He seemed to settle down and had a more low key second half, where he was rarely noticed. Mr Kirk has attracted some positive comment on here, so assume that he was not at his best on a Tuesday night in Hartlepool.
