Predictable appointments and does not really give us a clue as to who will be refereeing the Final. I wish Anthony and Michael and their teams all the best and hope they have good days out at Wembley.

Not sure that is a deserved appointment for Taylor really - I would not put him amongst the top 5 or 6 performers this season personally. I think Mike Dean deserved one but not that surprising they have gone for the elite FIFA referees.

I think Michael Oliver was very likely for Wolves V Watford considering he is doing Brighton on Saturday.

A farewell appointment for Grandad?

I agree it doesn't really give much of a clue as to who will get the Final. My money is still on Pawson whilst hoping it is Friend.

I'm surprised Atkinson doesn't seem to feature but perhaps the FA are looking to the future rather than the past.

Soon there wil be as many officials as players in a team. How did Joe Worrall, George Courtney, Jack Taylor et al manage to do such a great job without all this back-up? I know...different times; different scrutiny; different expectations.

Not exactly a surprise in these appointments. I think Mike Dean can count himself very unlucky not to have been awarded at least a quarter final after a strong season. I still think Friend will be given the final

I think Friend will get the final too - might have been different if a Manchester derby. Friend has refereed well in the FA Cup this season and used VAR in several games too.

East's appointment might suggest a farewell gift - otherwise strange to appoint a referee as Fourth Official to a semi-final game when he's had so few PL appointments this season.

I can only actually remember Mike Dean refereeing one FA Cup semi-final before (City V United in 2011) - the appointments of referees to FA Cup semi-finals don't always seem to have been the best to me.

Although he has not been helped by the tendency for Merseyside teams to do quite well in the FA Cup!

Yes. Clear headbutt motion towards Brighton player, between both Taylor and VAR couldn’t get the right decision between them. That’s 2 rounds running!

Suggest before anyone comments they read the relevant law! It has changed over time and making contact with the head is not necessarily a red card.

Mr Taylor perhaps should have taken action just before the head movement, when there was a foul on Walker and Jahanbakhsh then trod on him.

Yes, the word negligible was added.  I'm sure that had Walker been sent off it would have been overturned on appeal as there was no contact (so no strike) and the force used was non-existent as he missed.

In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.
