Seb Stockbridge with another BBC TV game on Friday night. I hope that unlike a year or two back, the Beeb spend less time focusing on him and more time on the game, it was cringe-worthy the last time Seb appeared on a televised Friday night FA Cup game. John Busby with the televised Eastleigh v Crewe game on Saturday evening and Anthony Busby with the tie featuring two 1970s / 1980s FA Cup winners.

If he does, I think we can take it that it will not be the Mersey derby  ;D

Seriously, FL refs do feature at the 3rd round stage but only in games involving two L1, L2 or NL sides. Fleetwood v Portsmouth or Burton v Northampton are possibilities or one of the games TBC following 2nd replays. I will not however be putting Mrs AT's housekeeping money on this one.

Dean Whitestone was appointed to Accrington vs Ipswich last season.

Admittedly Ipswich were Championship in name only at that stage and Whitestone was on the national list. Ipswich and Whitestone headed in opposite directions at the end of the season.

For the second round in a row Ben Toner was replaced for an Ipswich replay.  Chris Sarginson took charge instead.

Sending a school teacher from Darwen to Ipswich on a Tuesday night wasn’t the best appointment.

...especially at this moment when schools are in the frantic rush towards Christmas celebrations and the end of a long term.

I like Ben Toner but perhaps he overlooked closing his dates on such midweek fixtures.

To be fair, any of the other matches last night would have been closer for him - Crewe would definitely have been fine for Ben (while Sam Purkiss is London based so more suitable for a match down south.

Or they could have used different officials.

Another possibility is that Ben was in the Suffolk area for some reason.

A curious incident in tonight's Plymouth v Bristol Rovers replay on BT Sport. Curious because Plymouth hadn't apparently installed goal line technology at their ground which didn't help their cause when a 'did it cross the line or not' incident went against the home side. I thought goal line technology was compulsory at all League grounds but obviously not. For what it is worth, I tended to agree with Andy Woolmer and his AR (who looked directly in line) that although it was a close thing, the ball had not crossed the line. Crucial because Rovers ended up winning 1-0. I didn't see enough of the game to comment on the performance of Andy but perhaps other RTR correspondents were present or watching on BT who could offer a view.

GLT only exists in the top two divisions.
