Giving it to someone who has already done it means that sometime in the future someone who would have got it will miss out.  Would you prefer to miss out on doing it at all or miss out on doing it with a crowd?

Perhaps that's true but it's a tough one because who would be the likely person to miss out currently? If Pawson, Attwell, Kavanagh, Tierney don't get it this year then I'd still expect them to get it in the future (barring something unexpected/unfortunate like a serious injury.)
I wasn't expecting Scott or Mason to get the FA Cup final so if they don't get it they'd miss out.
Perhaps there might be someone in the future who doesn't quite get the chance because of how all the pieces fit together  (let's say Peter Bankes as a random example) but I don't think people would think it reasonable for him to get it this year and is it right to give a Pawson or Tierney as final behind closed doors so that someone like Bankes might get a go in about 10 years time?
