The other games can't have VAR can they as they are not set up with the technology; its only PL grounds, unless I'm mistaken?
Could someone please clarify

I believe this is correct.

Those who do not understand how it works are bound to pick up that Messrs Mason and Tierney get boards and link it to what happened at the weekend

I heard they got dropped... ;D

Thanks Gayle!

I don’t understand why people are moaning then! It can only be used at premier league grounds!

I'm not an expert but I think it is more a case that they have set it up so they can only use it at Premier League grounds - Swansea for example were obviously a Premier League club last year and VAR was used in some of their FA Cup games last season so presumably the infrastructure is there if they had the appetite to use it.

As I said, they used it at two non-Premier League grounds in the League Cup this season - Middlesborough in the quarter-final and Burton in the semi-final. I believe they were in a truck outside the stadium for the Burton game rather than being at Stockley Park so presumably there are alternatives if necessary.

I don't think it's a case of moaning, rather that there's a level playing field, that is all or nothing, which presumably in this case would be nothing.

If it was nothing, I fear we would be even further away from a successful implementation of VAR in England than currently seems to be the case!

It can be used elsewhere as I'm sure it was used at Burton Albion in the Caraboa Cup.  I seem to remember that was because they had a spare system just down the road at St George's Park though, presumably it had been there for testing.

lets just face the facts that var is only used at premier league grounds-very surprising appointments i may say for the quarter finals

I know it isn't a firm rule, but if the Final goes to a QF ref then Friend is surely in pole position. Kavanagh's time will come later.

If Pawson gets a semi-final, Friend is surely a shoo-in for the Final.

I still maintain that if it is a Manchester derby Final Friend is highly unlikely to get it

I'm sure the Palace will do their best to ensure a Friend-ly Final  ;D

If it's a Manchester Derby Final they should put Chris Kavanagh on it and have a Manchester ref too!  ;D
