If it were to be a second timer then I support the appointment of Michael Oliver. However his, and Taylor's appointment last year, means that ultimately two senior referees who might have been awarded the FA Cup Final are going to miss out. Not a happy state of affairs. I wonder if any of the SG1, not already having the honour, were canvassed about whether they wished to be considered for appointment this year or wait until their was a capacity crowd at Wembley once more.
I also wonder, precedent now having been set and followed, whether this marks the end of the ' once only rule' for the FA Cup Final and they turn to the Scottish model where I believe a different criterion is employed about repeat appointments to Finals.
