I half wondered whether it might be him. A fair reflection in my view of a good season from the oft-criticised Lee. And with Mike Dean in the VAR booth, what could possibly go wrong?!

Lee, I hope you and your team have a great day out at Wembley

Congratulations to lee mason and team.
I wonder if lee will be the villas lucky charm, having refereed them in the fourth and fifth rounds plus
Being in the var booth for the semi final second leg.
I believe lee made his prem debut in a villa game too at middlesbrough.

I suspect this is one of those appointments which "comes up with the rations" As has been discussed e lsewhere on RTR, there actually are not a huge number of candidates for the appointment this yeat ( assuming that there are no longer any second-timers allowed ). Mason has been in the top division for a long time, isn't having a bad season and it's probably his last chance before the new bloods start getting the Finals. He is not undeserving of the appointment; I hope he has a good match in what has to be said is an increasingly devalued competition.

Good luck to Lee and his team...

It would be very unusual for a first year referee to get a major final. And Oliver has already had it!
