Ughh I was hoping (and I'm sure many other Fulham fans the same) that we wouldn't see him again for a while after the West Ham away handball debacle. Out of interest, is there any process where a team can request not having a particular referee on their matches, and if they did, would PGMOL take any notice?

Perhaps none of this was Chris' fault as West Ham seem to have their own LOAFs when it comes to handball!  ;)

I'm sure it was just a...coincidence, but there's certainly precedence for referees not doing a team after a particularly controversial performance. With Arsenal I can think of Mike Riley post-OT debacle, Mike Dean after the last minute penalty (he later apologised for) at WBA and Stuart Attwell after the City games at the Emirates. I'm sure other teams will have their own examples too. Sometimes I think the authorities take a pragmatic approach and think it's in everyone's best interests to have a little break.

I’m a Fulham fan, takethejag, and I’ve got no problem whatsoever with Kavanagh doing this game, or any other Fulham game for that matter. West Ham away wasn’t ideal, and certainly wasn’t his best performance and I think I commented on it on here at the time. But he was let down by VAR in that game with the handballs, no real blame attached to him. Anyway, that’s all a bit of a moot point, just because he wasn’t brilliant in one Fulham game, doesn’t mean he has some sort of anti Fulham agenda, it was just one of those things. I’m actually a tad surprised that you feel he shouldn’t do this game, can’t really see your reasoning behind it? I’d expect it from some of the foaming at the mouth, irrational fans who think everything is an agenda, but I think we can be a bit better than that on here.
Good luck to Kavanagh, hope him and his team have a cracking game

History appears to suggest that the FA Cup Final referee has had a Quarter final that season. Will be interesting to see? Tierney or Attwell the only choices as the finalist has normally done an efl cup final previously

I certainly believed this but then was told it was a bit of a canard. One of the clever and dedicated statisticians on RTR will be able to tell us how many times this has actually been the case. I think I can remember an occasion ( but not the individuals involved ) when the 4 Quarter Final referees were made up of 3 who had already had the Final and A N Other but the Other was not subsequently appointed to that year's Final.

Very interesting appointments.

I'm not sure I especially agree with Robinson's appointment, just because I don't know if he'd have got the game if it had been two PL teams involved.

I think it's probably unlikely a QF referee does the final this year but who knows.

I think we have VAR vans now. I was told VAR for CL/EL/UECL travel to grounds now, since the winter break instead of going to Nyon. The VAR for the Chelsea CL game were based at the ground and therefore we must now have at least 1 mobile unit
