Surprised Pawson has a game as he is flying out for the UEFA Seminar, which starts in the first. Probably flies from Heathrow after the game.

It starts tomorrow, finishes on the 1st. Even more surprising!
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!

Before the season, I thought Tierney is the favourite for the FA Cup. I think Attwell is now just as likely.

In terms of assistants, I make Dan Robathan a shoe in. Especially with Tierney/ Attwell. Harry Lennard/ Neil Davies likely.

My Prediction would be

Paul Tierney
Harry Lennard and Dan Robathan
Andy Madley
Neil Davies

Darren England
Any Assistant

Would Oldham be a contender for promotion soon? Another good appt for him. Doughty with the pick of the games. Robinson with a TV game alongside an SG1 assistant 👀👀

Indeed, Walsall are not happy at all that their game v Leicester was overlooked for main live BBC/ITV showing, although it is on the BBC red button coverage. The very similar looking Gillingham v Leicester match was chosen from a pool of 32 games in round 3 and Man Utd v Reading has zero interest for any neutral yet has been picked ahead of it in round 4.

Walsall do get Gavin Ward for his first game there for almost 7 years, so every cloud and all that ! :-X

I think it's very likely a Manchester United game would rate higher than Walsall v Leicester, which is always going to be a prime consideration for ITV as a commercial broadcaster. If the FA want the TV companies to bid for the rights and give the cup some prominence then they'll need to have some acceptance that teams like Manchester United and Liverpool are likely to be regularly shown.

The BBC had Preston V Spurs, Accrington Stanley V Leeds and the exciting Wrexham V Sheffield United on BBC1, so the traditional cup tie element was certainly well covered. And of course we're getting more live games from the FA Cup than ever before really, with comprehensive Free To Air coverage. 15 years ago you'd have had 3 live games on BBC1 and 1 on Sky and that would be it, whereas now there's 3 on BBC1, 4 across ITV and a bonus one on the BBC red button.

Fourth time for Tim Robinson this season I think.

I hope he is wrapped in cotton wool because the thought of Simpson harrassing Sunderland again from the middle is a scary thought.

Heard good things about Doughty tonight. Didn't watch myself but was told he was excellent and consistent throughout. 2 excellent performances from 2 SG2 officials in both editions off this fixture by the sounds of it.

First penalty has been questioned
There was no problem with the offence, there was doubt where it occurred, was it just outside the area, was it on the line, did it start outside and continue into the box. Whichever way you view the offence it was very marginal and i would tend to say the referee was correct in his decision to award the penalty. This would have been a difficult decision for var too, had it been in operation.

First time watching Scott Oldham in the flesh last night

Disappointed with his performance

The only positive was his fitness and keeping up with play

He allowed the tempo to be taken out the game by Ipswich tactics.
Goalkeeper and players going down injured then coming back on like nothing had happened

Subs being allowed to walk across the full pitch and then Burnley players getting annoyed with this.

Scott watched the goalkeeper and throwing takers take ages over them without nothing being said

Hopefully for SG2 or above for the next round.
