Good to see Rob Jones with some good games, seems to be getting better games know Mr Riley is not so involved.

Who arranged Southampton and Portsmouth to play in London at the same time (12.30pm) on Saturday?!

Not the first time it has been mentioned, but it seems wrong to have VAR at some matches but not others.

In the Carabao Cup, VAR is only used from the semi-finals onward. That seems a reasonable arrangement to me.

My view is pretty much the exact opposite of yours!

But as you say it is something that gets debated each season - here's the thread from last year - https://ratetheref.createaforum.com/general-discussion-5/fa-defends-use-of-var-at-only-nine-of-32-third-round-fa-cup-ties/

As ReadingFan has said, it is an age old argument.  Personally I don't see a problem, VAR can only affect the game it is being used on, games with VAR and games without VAR are mutually exclusive.  Would be completely different if some league games have it and others in the same division don't.

The Carabao cup is different as it is, by definition, the Football League cup, and the Football League don't use VAR.  Plus history shows that EFL clubs tend to progress further in that competition as EPL clubs don't always take it seriously.

I think another potential general benefit of using VAR as much as possible is it gives more match officials and clubs some experience of VAR. I remember the EFL play-offs were all refereed by SG1 refs last season because VAR was used. I think it's probably good for the development of some SG2 officials for instance to get a bit more experience officiating with VAR, such as Bond and Robinson this weekend.

Really happy to see Robinson at Dean Court

In yellow.

At least he has turned up unlike AFCB's defence, midfield or strikers!

2 interesting offside moments at Anfield today. Salah goal looked offside but under the law is on, even though I'm nor the biggest fan of the law. Good call by Lennard though.

Disallowed Wolves goal is an interesting one. It seems as if Hopton got it spot on but it would help if we had a camera angle. Not good that VAR can't check this!

Also some ‘interesting’ offsides in the Sheff W - Newcastle match earlier. The one leading to the Newcastle goal can only be described as a howler/brain fart by Gary Beswick!

Unfortunately for the offside for the first Sheff W goal the AR was well behind play (it was mentioned during the BBC coverage) - he will be very disappointed when he sees that.
