Can't see Tierney getting the League Cup and the FA Cup. Simon Hooper maybe. I must admit I thought Attwell was a very firm favourite.

Tierney didn't do the league cup this season?????

Who was the last FA Cup Final referee to have not done the EFL Cup final previously?

Attwell and Tierney would be the only options

Could be Kavanagh though but it wouldn't be deserved. Hooper would deserve it.

I reckon Moss in 2015. Think he then went on to referee the EFL cup final in 2019.

That is correct

Ever since certain people stepped down from fifa on field duties towards the end of 2022, i expected they might end up with cup finals.
As mentioned before the League cup final, i had Coote as a runner for the final, similarly i have Tierney down for a F. A Cup Final appearance this season.
Conspiracy theory it may be.
I hope i am wrong and the next FIFA man in line ie Kavanagh gets it, since returning from his absence he has been good in quite difficult circumstances at times and deserves it.
Hooper and Brooks are also worthy mentions, but for the latter it is probably a little early for him, however if you are good enough why is age a barrier.
A Manchester derby in the final may well result in Tierney or Kavanagh, with the former expected to get the job, not my choice but what i expect the powers that be to appoint.

I'm a bit surprised neither Taylor or Oliver are refereeing a SF.

I wonder if possibility of a Manchester derby final would have counted against Attwell after the controversy of the 'offside' goal earlier in the season.

I think Tierney must be firm favourite for the final now.

Paul Tierney is a lock for me for the cup final, along with Davies. AR2 is up for debate

Ledger, West, Lennard, Robathan, Mainwaring and Hopton are all options assuming no one has it again,

Ledger deserves it. He has been a good servant to SG1 and its a travesty he hasn't had the FA Cup final when others have.  Robathan was Reserve AR last year and there is a pattern of the reserve AR getting a line 1 or 2 seasons later so I wouldn't bet against Robathan as an outsider. But for me Tierney and Davies are the obvious choise

Unless the FA spring a big surprise ( and they are certainly capable of that ) then I think there are only three realistic candidates to referee this year's Cup Final. In order of probability  Tierney ( overwhelmingly likely )  Kavanagh ( not impossible but more unlikely ) A Madley ( a very long shot )  As 4th, England or Jones  As VAR  Hooper or Brooks

Madley hasn't been 40 yet so imagine that will be him. Although could he have Lennard and Hopton at Wembley?

Harry Lennard is another shout for AR. Him and Roabthan/ Mainwaring for next season

I strongly believe that when David Coote, Paul Tierney and Peter Bankes gave up their FIFA badges some deal would have been done around appointments. Coote was a surprise for the league cup and so I fully expect Tierney in the FA cup and maybe Bankes with the community shield. All three, but especially Tierney and Coote have been given some very favourable appointments recently and I see that continuing.

That wouldn’t surprise me however Tierney will 100% deserve his appointment

Not saying Coote didn’t deserve it but there were people who have been a lot better than him this season that but should have gone to I.e Hooper
