No great surprise with Andre refereeing the Manchester derby, but Mike preferred to Atkinson is a bit of a surprise. A weekend of congrats to Mike continues. I hope that both of you and your teams have great evenings. Now who's going to have a Happy St David's Day at Wembley? Kavanagh, Scott or Mason....?

Mike Dean getting both legs shows the lack of depth in English top flight refereeing at the moment!

I know there is a European conference but I remember times where you had 10-12 refs capable of handling cup semis. Eg in 2002-03 when you had Poll, Barber, Winter, Durkin, Halsey, Riley, Wiley, Bennett, Styles, Dunn, Gallagher. Level of top talent seems a lot thinner now.

Dean getting two semi-finals shows how good he is. I wonder if they hadn't planned ahead from the first legs because it was a bit surprising that neither Oliver or Taylor were used then if they weren't available for the second.

I presume VAR will be used again, probably Atkinson and Mason considering the other appointments.

I think Tierney has a decent chance for the final.

Agreed I think it will be Tierney, and Coote on 4th official

Atkinson is doing the monday night fa cup tie so couldn’t do the LC semi finals. Think Tierney Has To be favourite for the final.

It would be interesting to know which takes precedence - I'd have thought a semi-final would be given priority over a fourth round tie so if they'd wanted Atkinson for a semi-final in the LC then someone else would have got the Monday FA Cup game. But who knows. I don't think Atkinson has been especially good this season anyway.

The FA Order of matches specifies that FA Cup is the most importance, so the League Cup being a FL competition would rank 3.

(b) The “Order of Precedence” of appointments, whether as a Referee or Assistant Referee shall be as follows:
(1) The FA Challenge Cup Competition;
(2) The Premier League;
(3) The Football League;
(4) The FA Challenge Trophy Competition;
(5) The FA Challenge Vase Competition;
(6) Affiliated Association Cup Competitions*
(7) The Panel Leagues;
(8) The FA Youth, FA County Youth Challenge Cup Competitions and FA Women’s Cup
4th round and above.
(9) Contributory Leagues (recognised divisions only), National League Systems Cup
and FA Sunday Cup
(10) FA Women’s Super League and Cup
(11) Supply Leagues (marking divisions only)
(12) FA Women’s Premier League and Cup
(13) Senior County Leagues
(14) Intermediate County League
(15) FA Women’s Cup prior to 4th round
(16) Women’s Combination League and Cup
(17) Women’s Regional League and Cup
(18) County Junior Leagues
(19) County Women’s Leagues and Cup
(20) All other competitions, including Youth Competitions

Thanks, although you'd hope some coordination would go on - otherwise, the Premier League could insist on using every eligible referee for the LC final that weekend other than Simon Hooper!  ;)

Surprised nobody has mentioned Attwell yet. He seems to be back in favour again and although I don’t rate him more than mediocre, he is still a FIFA ref and, as far as I am aware, has never has the Final

We need an emoji that visibly shudders ;D

Great set of appointments too. I thought either Taylor or Kavanagh would've got the City v United second leg, but all in all a safe pair of hands for both games.
David Silva olé.

All the FIFA officials are out of commission during the week so they weren't available.

Is there no VAR in operation for the second legs? A bit strange since it was used in the first legs..
