I’d have thought that Attwell is one of if not the favourite for next seasons FA cup final. Is there precedent for someone doing the community shield and fa cup final in the same season?

Interesting appointment, given the last time he refereed this fixture...

To be honest this is just a glorified friendly of minimal importance.  I would give to Robinson or Bond to get them used to refereeing these teams.

While I'd generally agree with you, I don't think the FA would usually give new SG1 officials a match between two of the big teams right away.
