I'm a bit surprised at Bankes' appointment. I wonder if he'd have got the game if it had finished 0-0 last night.

I'll guess A Madley for the final, but I think Hooper/Coote are also possibilities.

No surprise with Tierney but there is with Bankes ahead of Madley, Jones, Gillett or Pawson. Even with the 3-0 scoreline especially how Bankes was on VAR for the first leg.

If Coote gets the final over all of Hooper, Madley, Gillett, England, Jones, or even Scott.........

Of current SG1 referees Taylor, Oliver, Marriner, Pawson, Tierney and Attwell have all done the League Cup Final. It would appear to be between Graham Scott and Simon Hooper for this season.

Speaking of the refs, but what about the assistants, who do you think AR wise should get it?

I think James Mainwaring, Lee Betts and Tim Wood deserve it

Not sure if they have had it but I would say possibly Scott Ledger & Ian Hussin

Cook, Robathan, Betts x2, Hatzidakis, Hussin, Lennard, Perry, Beswick, Nunn, West, Burt x2, Bennett, Holmes, Long, Ledger, Cann have all done it

Leaves Hopton, Davies, Scholes, Eaton, Wilkes, Mainwiring, Smith, Smart, Greenhalgh, Aspinall and Massey-Ellis

Smart definitely and possibly either scholes or Hopton. If Kavanagh wasn’t injured I would have said him. I think it will be Coote

Couldn’t agree with you more. A mediocre ref at best whose performances in recent weeks especially have left a lot to be desired. The fact that he is even being touted as a possibility for the final is indicative of the standard of refereeing at present

If it were to be Scott i wonder if that would influence him to hang up his whistle at the end of the season.

UEFA referee seminar takes place over the next few days. Rules out Oliver, Pawson, Jones, Brooks and Gillett and Attwell. With Taylor already out, hence why Bankes probably has the game along with Tierney

Only Pawson & Attwell on the list

Oliver won't be on that one. The others probably are though. No idea why Oliver not on the list for the elite one, is he refereeing away somewhere?

Similar dates for uefa seminar in 2020 resulted in Mike Dean refereeing a leg of each semi final.
