Obviously two of the highly rated non SG officials on an upward trajectory. Who gets the Final this year? Usually a long serving toiler. I guess Carl Boyeson must be in with a shout.

Can’t say I’m too surprised to see Joyce and Salisbury Jnr get the semi finals but congratulations to both. Reward for a decent season.

As for the final, Boyeson perhaps or what about Drysdale? He’s been on the list for a number of years and always seems a safe pair of hands.

Drysdale is a good shout. I believe he has been on the List for a long time, Upton confirms since 2004, and if he hasn't already had the honour must be in with a good chance. According to Upton Boyeseon joined the List in 2002 which I think must make him the longest serving referee inheriting that accolade from Mike Jones.

Ilderton is another 2002 entry and so must also be reckoned to be in the frame as also must be Stroud.

I had miscounted Ilderton purely on the hope that Sunderland would be in the final haha!!

Of current referees Gavin Ward, Chris Sarginson, Andy Woolmer and Graham Salisbury have done the final. Messrs Ilderton and Boyeson have both been fourth official, as has Dean Whitestone.

Based on last year's appointment it might go to someone who is slated to go up to SG2 next season, so maybe someone like Ross Joyce or Ben Toner.

Toner I expect for the Final or perhaps Whitestone?

Ross Joyce has the bury v Portsmouth semi-final tomorrow, so he won't get the final.

Toner would be unlikely if bury get there.

Although Gavin Ward was somehow promoted to SG2, he got the final after many years toiling around Leagues 1/2.

Considering Whitestone is head and shoulders above most of the NG that would be a good appointment.

Classy Official is Whitestone - calm, composed and incredibly fit. Why he hasn't been promoted to SG2 yet is beyond me? However, his occupation maybe the reason for this, is anyone able to shed any light.

If we are talking about PL refs (Mike Jones) as well as NL refs, then Mike Dean (1997) must be the longest serving of the top flight refs. However I am not suggesting for a moment that the authorities will appoint him to oversee Bury v Bristol Rovers in the Final, will they?!   ;D
