A third of the fourth officials in this batch of matches are female. I have no problem with that; it would be nice if the figure was a half. However this is out of kilter with the normal appointing process. This has also happened earlier this season in this competition. There is clearly some sort of experiment going on here. It would be nice if the authorities were to announce publicly what they were trying.
