Brooks paired with the cream of the SG1 assistants..perhaps a trial game is imminent given the rest of the ties have SG1 attention.

Mason and Friend with cracking appointments....and we get Moss for the derby contest.

How many games has Hooper refereed this season?

A mix of the experienced and newer ones there. Good to see Madley, England and Jones refereeing - I hope Jones is used the following weekend in PL but he's got a Thursday game so who knows.

In all bar one game the more senior/better referee is on the bench, some very experienced board carriers

I'm sure we're all trying to agree on what that one game is!

I am not sure how sensible it is to appoint Simon Hooper to board duties at Brighton v Manchester United four days after he was VAR for the league game between two.  Even without the benefit of hindsight that sounds like a recipe for disaster, or at least an uncomfortable evening.

An uncomfortable evening perhaps - but I'm not sure there's too much disaster that can happen with him as FO!

In reality, I doubt too many people at either club will especially know or care. The fact it's the same fixture is just a coincidence really and you'd expect there will be two significantly different teams and I guess the SG1 and clubs soon get used to coming into contact with each other shortly after key decisions have been made.

It seems quite likely that we're not going to see (m)any spectators for the League Cup final either this season.

If so, I wonder if they will appoint someone a second time like the FA did or just give it to someone who's never had it before? I would suspect possibly the latter.

It would be interesting to see what approach the FA took if we were unfortunate enough to still be in this position come late May.

I was planning on giving the 4am alarm call a miss on Thursday for our game away at Burnley. However, knowing it is now a referee I’d normally not get chance to see, I might be tempted to set it after all.  ;D
David Silva olé.

And he's in the middle for Saturday's game at Everton.
