Brighton rely on public transport for access to the ground I believe so that might be why. I read somewhere they'd have to try and find 10's of thousands of park and ride spaces, which could have been a purely sarcastic comment by someone or based on fact. I don't know either way!
There are car parks in the university complex but limited to 750-1000 spaces.
The park and ride scheme is available but wouldn’t cope at all, plus the A27 would be gridlocked.
